Arrival in Asturias, accommodation at the hotel. Before dinner we take a short walk through Soto de Agues, awarded “Exemplary Town of Asturias” in Prince of Asturias Awards 2009. From this village, goes up the famous Ruta del Alba, Natural monument of Asturias.
Hiking trail through the Redes Natural Park. At the heart of the park, we found Taballón Mongallo Cascade, fall 60 m and is located at an altitude of 1160 m. must cross a thick beech forest , shelter today from grouse, deer, wild boar.
After the route visit the Cheese “Old World”, which prepares Casín Cheese. cheese made from cow’s milk or a mixture of cow, goat and sheep. Powerful and pungent aroma, its flavor is strong, persistent, spicy and slightly bitter at the end of the mouth.
Visit the MUMI ( Mining Museum of Asturias). Equipped with helmets and front lamp, we woud get to know the mine from the inside even down a gallery.
At lunchtime, we expected a succulent stake lamb, slow roasted in oak for 5 h.
In the afternoon, we demonstrate our aim in a archery 3D circuit (animal figures scale).
Route dramatized “The Lost Village”. Experience the history of Asturias from rural life to industrial, from the hand of the characters in “The Lost Village” novel by Armando Palacio Valdes. To end the weekend, visit to espicha, traditional meeting wherelocal produce is served (Ham cod, chorizo in cider and tortos ….) and of course cider.
Easter is the quintessential time to hold a espicha in Nalón Valley. During these months begin to open pipes to then bottle the cider. The people of the area take advantage of this time to enjoy the harvest of the year with its neighbors, but how much cider drinking less bottled.
